GEORG JENSEN DEBUTS ZAHA HADID COLLECTION IN THE UAE
The Lamellae jewellery collection by the late Iraqi architect now available in the UAE
Dubai, UAE, September 2016 – Georg Jensen, the Danish design house, has proudly launched the Zaha Hadid collection, the last completed project by the globally renowned late Iraqi architect and designer. The exclusive red carpet launch event which took place at the Dubai Opera House, was gracefully attended by H.E. Merete Juhl the Danish Ambassador to the UAE, Mr. Hashim Consul General of Lebanon in Dubai and the Northern Emirates, and renowned Iraqi composer, poet and singer Kazem el Saher. The visionary collection comprises of eight sculptural, sensually expressive rings and cuff bangles, inspired by the architectural silhouettes of Hadid’s buildings.
Created in either sterling silver or black rhodium-plated set with black diamonds, the collection is designed to reference the sculptural forms and curves of Hadid's most famous buildings. It takes reference from natural silhouettes seen in some of her structures including striped reliefs and dramatic lines. Both distinctive and innovative, yet also timeless, the items in the Zaha Hadid collection introduce a new way of thinking about jewellery and design.

Being so immaculately designed, the rings sweep gently across the hand or soar playfully above the finger; and the elegant cuff bracelets engage in a natural play of light, wrapped around the wrist in a deceptively simple twist of silver. The silver naturally alternates between a polished and matte effect, while the black rhodium pieces lend a subtle gleam to graphic, architectural forms.

Zaha Hadid is one of the world’s most renowned Middle Eastern architects, having designed sports stadiums, theatres, opera houses, art galleries, shoes, and cars around the world - among other objects. She passed away from a heart attack in March 2016.
