Gates County Housing Committee Seeks Housing Coordinator Contracted Position

The Gates County Housing Committee assess the county’s sub-standard housing issues, particularly those of the low-income, elderly and those with disabilities, and coordinate local/state/federal programs with volunteer labor and donated funds to make needed repairs to eligible households. In partnership with the Gates County Department of Social Services (DSS) and the Gates County Commissioners a volunteer Housing Coordinator position was created to accomplish the mission of the Housing Committee, and find ways to eliminate barriers and identify resources to assist needy individuals and families in Gates County. This is a contracted position that is compensated with a stipend, as funds are available through grants, donations, and contributions from various agencies, businesses, the faith community, and individuals desiring to support a project that makes a notable difference in the community.

The function of this contract is to coordinate all aspects of the Gates County Housing Committee and Faith Community at Work for Safer Housing. The desired characteristics of the Housing Coordinator are: someone who is motivated; a self-starter: excellent oral and written communication skills; able to network and collaborate with the faith community; able to multi-task; demonstrates excellent organizational skills; strong people skills; able to perform contracted services occasionally on nights and weekends to meet the needs of recipients and project coordinators; high school diploma or higher degree of educational completion; and interested in serving the community with limited resources. The Housing Committee is seeking interested candidates to fill this position by August 24, 2015.
