Pre-operation inspection
Requirement to remove defective equipment from service
Required CSA/ANSI approved personal protective equipment (PPE) and work apparel
• Safety glasses
• Head protection where necessary
• Hearing protection (ear muffs or plugs)
• Work gloves during mower blade maintenance
• High visibility/reflective traffic garment/vest
• Long pants
• High-cut (above the ankle CSA Grade 1 – green patch) workboots with foot protection and anti-slip soles
• Apply sunscreen (15 SPF or higher) when UV Index is medium or higher
Shutdown prior to making adjustments, maintenance, unclogging chutes
Control measures to prevent finger or toe amputations, cuts and lacerations
Control measures to prevent projectiles from striking workers
Control measures to prevent gasoline fires
Emergency measures: communication, first aid, fire extinguisher
Control measures to prevent heat exhaustion and sunburn
