· Matches shapes

· Uses 2 to 3 word sentences

· Enjoys looking at books independently

· Understands concepts such as big and little

· Walks up and down stairs well

FROM BIRTH TO 3 YEARS OLD

From 12 to 18 months:

· Stacks 2 to 3 blocks

· Drinks from a cup independently

· Pulls a toy by the string

· Looks at pictures in a book

· Walks independently

· Points to body parts

· Imitates words or sounds

· Has a few single words

· Gives hugs and kisses

· Likes to scribble with a crayon

From 2 to 6 months:

· Holds head steady when in supported sitting

· Rolls from tummy to back

· Follows a moving object with eyes in

all directions

· Holds a rattle with either hand

· Reaches toward toys

· Plays with hands or feet

· Turns to a sound or voice

· Enjoys mouthing toys

· Laughs out loud

· Coos and squeals

· Loves to play peek a boo

· Has some fear of strangers

From 6 to 12 months:

· Rolls from back to stomach

· Sits without support

· Babbles (ba-ba, ma-ma)

· Bangs toys on a surface

· Drops or throws toys

· Bangs two toys together to make noise

· Crawls

· Pulls to stand

· Imitates actions (bye-bye)

· Begins to finger feed soft foods

· Takes toys out of a container

· Enjoys games (pat a cake)

From birth to 2 months:

· Lifts head when on tummy

· Focuses on a face briefly

· Looks at colorful toys and objects

· Follows a slowly moving object with eyes

· Enjoys moving arms and legs

· Tries to bat at a toy

· Responds to sounds and voices

· Smiles when someone approaches
