North Carolina READY End-of-Grade English Language Arts / Reading Assessments

and READY End-of-Course English II Assessment

These questions and responses supplement the information in the test specifications and will be updated as more information is available. Test coordinators will have full and current details about the administration of these assessments.

1.  Where are the English Language Arts test specifications?

2.  What are the types of questions on the assessments?

The Grades 3–8 End-of-Grade (EOG) assessments are all multiple-choice. The English II End-of-Course (EOC) assessment will be predominantly multiple-choice, but will also contain technology-enhanced and short constructed response items.

4.  How much time do students have for the assessment?

For Grades 3–8 EOG and English II EOC students taking the general assessment, the estimated testing time is 3 hours; the maximum time allowed without accommodations is 4 hours.

For the English II NCEXTEND2 assessment, the estimated testing time is 3 hours. According to the Administrative Guide, students taking the NCEXTEND2 assessment may have additional time if they are engaged and working.

5.  Do any of the assessments extend past one day?

EOG English Language Arts and EOC English II assessments are to be given in one day, unless the student has a testing accommodation.

6.  What are the standards for the EOG English Language Arts and EOC English II assessments?
