Post Title: Forestry Framework Fundraiser – West Midlands

Salary : £30,000 Pro rata Three days/wk (actual salary £13,500)

Contract: 9 months contract June 2010 – March 2011, may be extended ______

Responsible to: Small Woods Executive Director

Key Relationships: Forestry Commission, Heartwoods (West Midlands Forestry Initiative)

Regional partnerships and NGOs

Based at the Green Wood Centre, Coalbrookdale Shropshire

Job Purpose: To develop and implement a funding strategy to support and grow the forestry industry in the West Midlands with a target of £750,000 in year one

Main Duties:

·  Develop a funding strategy to support the delivery of the Regional Forestry Framework, working with the Heartwoods Steering Group, Executive Director of Small Woods, and the regional FC team.

·  Develop a list of priority projects to be taken forward working with the RAC and the RFF Delivery Plan Steering group

·  Identify potential funding opportunities for the priority projects, and establish working relationships with fund managers

·  Draft bids to funding agencies , working closely with the Executive Director of Small Woods, JHP financial advisor, regional Director FC and Project Manager, Heartwoods

·  Submit bids and answer queries from funders

·  Maintain schedule of funding bids, outputs, reports and claims

Person specification

Based at the Green Wood Centre in Shropshire, you will be placed in the Heartwoods team, currently engaged on the delivery of a major AWM funded woodfuel project. You should have experience of raising project funding from a wide range of sources, including EU, RDPE, Lottery, Community Landfill Fund, Aggregates Levy, SDF, Leader, Charitable Trust and corporate giving.

Essential Skills, knowledge and experience / Method of assessment
Previous experience of regional fundraising strategies / Application form + interview
Minimum 3 years hands-on experience in project fundraising / Application form + interview

Strong time management and project planning skills, with an ability to prioritise / Application form + interview

Experience of producing clear documents, and excellent presentation and writing skills / Application form + interview

Knowledge of either the forestry, land use or bio-energy sectors / Application form + interview

Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Internet) / Test

Educated to degree level or equivalent / Application form
