SAMPLE

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT MODULES

FOR THE BAAS DEGREE

with a major of APPLIED ARTS AND SCIENCES

During CTE 3313E students will identify the classes to be used for the professional development and may choose one of the following modules OR customize their own with the assistance of an OWLS advisor. Classes must be selected from three academic departments (ex: CTE, PSY, SOCI, etc.) since the BAAS is interdisciplinary and individualized. Please review catalog course descriptions, delivery systems, class schedules, and prerequisites (if required) before making the selection. These modules do not appear as a major on the degree plan and are simply areas of concentration.

These concentrations are only SAMPLES – students can build an individualized concentration

Human Services/Counseling Type Concentration

Persons interested in pursuing the LCDC, LPC, Social Work, Psychology or other helping professions, certifications, licensures, or masters degrees upon completion of the BAAS degree must understand that the BAAS degree itself, regardless of the courses taken toward the degree, does not render persons eligible to sit for licensing exams in counseling fields upon completion. Those fields require separate credentials and each has its own set of criteria and licensing board. The courses below would simply provide a general background of knowledge found to be helpful or useful to persons who plan to pursue further education in the helping professions upon graduation from the BAAS.
