Show up and Drive

Test drive opportunities abound at the San Diego International Auto Show

For Immediate Release

San Diego, Cal., Dec. 13, 2016 – As the ultimate experiential marketing tool, Ride & Drive events continue to help shoppers get up close and personal with exciting new cars and trucks at auto shows around the U.S. The consumer favorite event returns to the San Diego International Auto Show (SDIAS), Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016 – Monday, Jan. 2, 2017.

The largest five-day show in Southern California, SDIAS will feature 15 Ride & Drives providing dozens of interactive opportunities and literally hundreds of consumer test drives.

“We put great effort into engaging consumers at the show through a number of fun, educational and interactive features on the show floor,” says Kevin Leap, SDIAS show director. “Ride & Drives are an extension of the show, and provide tremendous opportunities for ticket holders to comparison shop by actually driving new vehicles, while learning about their features and technology from professional product specialists.”

At the 2017 edition of the SDIAS, Ride & Drives will be located along the front drive of the San Diego Convention Center; in the back lot area; and, in the case of Camp Jeep, inside the center itself. All FCA brand Ride & Drives will be at one location.

Ride & Drives are scheduled for Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Ford, Kia, Lincoln, Mazda, Nissan, Ram, Subaru, and Toyota. Camp Jeep, the only indoor drive event (professional drivers operate vehicles for passengers over an extreme course) returns for its eighth consecutive year, along with family-favorite, Camp Jeep for Kids.

Automakers will offer a variety of standard, hybrid-electric, electric, and fuel-efficient vehicles, for test-drives. Signage will be posted throughout the San Diego Convention Center directing show attendees to the various Ride & Drives. Hours vary, and can be found at SDautoshow.com.

Ticketed show attendees typically must meet age requirements and have a current driver’s license to participate in Ride & Drives. There is no additional fee to participate, but those interested should visit the specific event areas for more information and explanation of program rules. Trained product specialists accompany drivers, and each Ride & Drive takes about 15 minutes.
