“Color Your World”… Local High School Students Attend FCCLA State Leadership Conference”

Springfield, IL (April 9, 2016) – The Illinois Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) held the annual State Leadership Conference in Springfield, IL The conference was held on Thursday, April 7 through Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Prairie Capital Convention Center, the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel and the Hilton Hotel Springfield, IL .

There were over 1700 students, Advisers and guests in attendance. More than 800 of those students participated in the State Proficiency and STAR Competitive Events. Attendees also had the opportunity to listen to workshop presentations on current topics. The election of the 2016-2017 Illinois Association of FCCLA State Officers also took place during the conference.

Illinois FCCLA partnered with the Sala Bai Hospitality School in Cambodia for their community service project. FCCLA members from across the state made monetary contributions to the project. The money collected was donated to the school in Cambodia to assist students in their education.

The keynote speaker for the conference was Eddie Slowikowski. Eddie challenged the students to set goals, dream big and color the world with positive relationships. Eddie and his wife, Diane helped provide the Friday night entertainment along with a lip sync/live talent battle by FCCLA members from across the state.
