07-036: Migrant Ed’s Annual HS Recognition Event
Migrant Education recognizes its seniors at annual recognition event
On Sunday, June 2, San Joaquin County Office of Education’s Migrant Education recognized 108 migrant senior graduates at its Annual High School Recognition event at Mickey’s Grove Park.
As always, this event focused on the students’ accomplishments by honoring them with a certificate of achievement. Along with this seven students were presented with scholarships.
The keynote speaker of this event was Ines Ruiz-Huston, Director of the Community Involvement Program and Multicultural Affairs, at University of the Pacific.
“She gave an excellent address that focused on the reasons why our students need to continue their education and she gave examples of current and former UOP Students that have overcome major obstacles to achieve their goals,” said Coordinator of Migrant Education, Manuel Nunez.
Following Ruiz-Huston, was Migrant Education Region 23’s Honor Student, who addressed the group with a motivational message about their accomplishments.
