Homework Assignment

Family Origin/Individual Heritage

Find the answers to the following questions. You will need to ask family members (parents, grandparents, or the people that you live with.). You will need to do some research on the internet. If you do not have internet access, you can access the web at our library or the local library.

1. Where are your ancestors from? Try to find the earliest information possible. For example, my grandfather was from Texas, but my great grandmother was from England. I would say my ancestors are from England, not Texas.

2. How did your ancestors travel? For example, my ancestors traveled by boat from Europe to the United States. If you do not know the mode of transportation they used, make an educated guess.

3. What was your family like? Did many people come at the same time, or did just one or two come? For example, some of your ancestors may have been large migrant families from Mexico, while others may have been aristocrats from France or Spain.

4. Give any important information about each location. Bring a map of each country, city, etc. Do you know anything about the culture of each location?

5. What is the economy like (what is the major industry)? What is the land like (mountainous, flat)? What is the traditional dance form? What are some traditions (wedding dances, tea ceremony, etc.) in the country? What is the traditional dress of the country? What is the largest city of the country? What language do they speak? What kind of money do they use?
