Facilities Supervisor

Accountability: Reports to Pastor / Business Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly

Hours: Full-time/ 40 hours per week. (Monday – Friday, Weekends as needed)

General Summary: The Facilities Supervisor at St. Joseph Parish is responsible for maintaining the parish buildings and grounds. The Facilities Supervisor performs and supervises tasks related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security, environmental, safety and custodial. This position requires a team player attitude, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, attention to details and project coordination. The Facilities Supervisor has a clear understanding of acceptable business practices in relationship to church teachings. The Facilities Supervisor has the ability to collaborate with and support the Pastor, Business Manager, parish staff and parishioners.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

· Manages and performs all work related to the maintenance of parish buildings including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, custodial and security of the parish.

· Maintains equipment on parish grounds by closely monitoring equipment and completing necessary testing as required. Also maintains accurate records of all maintenance repairs. Performs repairs as needed.

· Helps with a variety of installations, repairs and renovations to buildings, fixtures and other facilities related items.

· Manages the facility work order system. Assigns tasks to appropriate team member(s). Prioritizes and completes facilities requests in a timely manner. Provides a weekly status update on any pending project.

· Oversees and provides custodial needs of the parish.

· Keeps buildings safe by making sure they meet building code requirements.

· Works with Business Manager and Pastor to report problems, solutions and costs associated.

· Assists in supervision of all parish maintenance and custodial employees.

· Promotes a positive team attitude with employees and volunteers.

· Develops, oversees and may assist teams of volunteers providing parish maintenance services such as cleaning, painting, and landscaping.

· Supervises contractors and vendors as they relate to maintenance.

· Develops and maintains a relationship with all contactors and vendors ensuring efficient facility operations.

· Implement procedures for handling, storing, safekeeping, and destruction of hazardous materials. Maintains parish MSDS system.

· Maintains parish wide inventory list and reviews list at least semi-annually.

· Assists parish IT department when a changes are needed to the facilities.

· Regularly inspects parish properties for areas of concern. Performs the Semi-Annual Inspection.

· Ensures compliance and implementation of policies as they relate to parish facilities.

· Provides snow and ice removal from parking lots, ramps and walkways.

· Provides lawn maintenance and landscaping duties

· Assists with cemetery (Mt. Olivet Cemetery) as needed.

· Attends staff meetings.

· Serves as the primary contact for facility related emergencies, which may require evening and weekend work.

· Adheres to all Diocesan policies.

· Other duties as assigned by Pastor/Business Manager that are project in nature.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Must have good interpersonal skills and familiarity with the Church as an organization. Must work effectively with and collaborate with the Pastor, parishioners, parish staff, musicians, and parish committees/commissions.

2. Is self-motivated and willing to serve.

3. Must be able to work independently without direct supervision.

4. Ability to execute projects systematically.

5. Good craftsmanship.

6. Minimum 2 years’ experience with a variety of maintenance tools, equipment and procedures.

7. Proficient in computer applications using Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, etc.

8. Good organizational and communication skills.

9. High School Diploma with training in maintenance of buildings.

10. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in facilities management and supervising others.

11. Diocesan employment requirements must be met.

12. Ability to safely lift 50 lbs. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, reach and climb ladders.

13. Practicing Catholic preferred.
