This conference presents state of the art infection prevention practice and disease control information.

Conference Objectives

·  Discuss what works and what doesn’t in the control and prevention of key emerging infections.

·  Apply the epidemiology and public health implications of key emerging infections in national and international settings.

·  Discuss the implications of Quantiferon testing with Tuberculosis.

·  Identify changes in reporting requirements and surveillance infections of the Florida Department of Health.

·  Identify two best practices for the prevention of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI).

·  Describe current interventions for C. difficile focusing on prevention transmission among patients in healthcare settings.

·  List 3 common problems associated with body piercing.

·  Identify successful strategies for infection prevention in long term care and ambulatory care settings.

·  Define surveillance within the EMS arena.

·  The attendee will list the top ten infection control issues for project development and ongoing project monitoring.

·  The participant will be able to identify the major elements of an Infection Control Risk Assessment and when they are applied.

·  Discuss environmental cleaning guidelines and verification of the effectiveness of that process.

·  Explain how to successfully comply with expanded NPSG 7 requirements.

·  Apply design or enhancements to your IPC program that meets key infection prevention challenges and The Joint Commission standards.

·  Identify changes in the HAI definitions in recent years.

·  Explain new regulatory issues to impact the practice of Infection Prevention.

·  Identify updates on FHA CUSP and FSCI initiatives.

Special Information

TARGET AUDIENCE: This program is designed for Infection Prevention professionals in all health care settings, including Infection Prevention Committee Chairpersons, Hospital Epidemiologist, Physicians, Employee Health Nurses, Emergency Response Professionals, Physician’s office employees, Microbiologists, Home Health personnel, Long Term Care staff, Non-Acute Care staff, Public Health personnel and other Health Care providers.

EDUCATIONAL CONTACT HOURS: This seminar is approved for 15 contact hours of continuing education under the provider number of #50-757 for both nursing and laboratory continuing education credit. There will be 9.0 additional contact hours offered for the pre-conference. Daily contact hours: Wednesday 6.0; Thursday 5.0; and Friday 4.0.
