Location: / Emmaus Store, Sittingbourne
Hours / 37.5 hours per week delivered flexibly
Accountable to: / Director
Responsible for: / The safe and profitable operation of the Emmaus retail store in Sittingbourne

Purpose of the Job

·  To maximise sales income, gift aid income and ensure all goods are clean and priced

·  Create eye-catching window and in-store displays of donated goods to promote the image, products, and services of the charity

·  To provide effective guidance and direction to the shop team and volunteers to enable them to develop retail skills including visual merchandising, good housekeeping, and customer interaction

·  To use entrepreneurial flair to maximise the income generated through the Sittingbourne shop for Emmaus

Duties and Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

·  Contribute to growing the business and to the maximisation of profit from the shop operation and other business activities

·  Manage the efficient and effective day to day operation of the Sittingbourne store

Management & Administration

·  Ensure the counter and retail operation is covered always and provide cover where necessary

·  Work closely with the Finance Officer to produce management information to inform both operational and strategic decisions in relation to the retail operations of the Sittingbourne shop

·  Oversee the co-ordination, sorting, pricing, and display stock to maximise sales

·  Ensure electrical items have current PAT test before display in the shop

·  Work with other members of the Community Management Team to manage stock control across the three stores

·  To ensure a safe and secure working environment for Companions, volunteers, staff, and customers

·  Overall responsibility to make sure the Sittingbourne store meets/exceeds its targets and controls costs

·  Respond to any customer care issues

·  Use social media to promote shops on a weekly basis

·  Maximise online sales via eBay, Gumtree and other on line sites

Other Duties

·  Any other duties and tasks deemed necessary.

General

Emmaus works with vulnerable people. Staff and volunteers must observe the proper demarcation and professional boundaries while performing their role.

You must always act in a way which will maintain the good reputation of Emmaus Medway, upholding the policies and procedures of Emmaus. You should strive to preserve good working relationships with Staff, Volunteers, Companions, and the Trustees, keeping the appropriate key personnel well informed of significant matters relating to the Community.

We expect you to carry out your job responsibilities in an environmentally aware manner. Our aim is to ensure all resources are utilised effectively and efficiently. You will be expected to apply sound ‘value for money’ principles in undertaking purchasing or supply of goods and services.

Experience
