Hello! 8/23/16
My name is Stephanie Maxson, and I will be your child’s choir director this year. Along with directing the 4/5 graders at ESM I am also the music director at St. Michael and have the opportunity to lead several different vocal and instrumental groups.
This will be an exciting year in choir! First, the 4/5 grade choir has a new name….Harmony Choir. This name fits well since students will be working on several different vocal techniques such as singing parts, interval training, diction, and using proper breath support. The choir will sing from a variety of music genres through the year.
The Harmony Choir has the opportunity to sing at both Emmanuel and St. Michael worship services this year. Since most of the music that students learn in 4/5 grade involves part singing, so we ask all students to come sing at both congregations, regardless of where your church membership might be. What a wonderful to say ‘thanks’ to our supporting congregations and use our musical gifts to glorify God!
Along with worship services, students will also be working on music for Grandparents Day, Christmas Vespers Service, and the spring musical. I have included the dates below, and they are also on the school calendar.
