EMS Course Schedule
A course schedule must be submitted with each EMS course application and received by the DOH at least three weeks prior to the starting date.

Competency Based. National EMS Education Standards estimate the following course hour ranges:

EMR: 48 to 60 clock hours AEMT: 150 to 250 hours

EMT: 150 to 190 clock hours Paramedic: Per *CoAEMSP Standards and Guidelines

The state-approved Cognitive Certification Examination is not part of the course. If a final Cognitive Examination is required by the training agency for course completion or grading purposes, it must be developed by the instructor and administered prior to the state-approved Cognitive Certification Examination. The state-approved initial certification examination is computer based testing (CBT) by the NREMT through a Pearson VUE testing center.
