Name of Assessment 2: Professional Development Plan

Directions to the Student: Use technology to collaborate and communicate with the learning community, increase professional productivity, and engage in ongoing professional development by:

Complete the Educational Technology Self Assessment and identify your strengths and weaknesses in regard to using basic computer applications in education at both the beginning and the end of this course.

Find and prepare a list of technology professional development resources on the Internet to engage in ongoing professional development. These may be conferences for technology-related organizations such as MACUL/ISTE or other technology-related professional development opportunities.

Following the self assessment at the end of this course, prepare and submit a two-page plan identifying how you will utilize professional organizations and technology resources on the Internet to engage in ongoing technology professional development. Be specific (cite 2-3 specific organizations and Internet activities).

Participate in collaborative discussions and cite at lease 2-4 specific resources which support your comments on the topic of how technology use does or does not support instruction. (AASL/NCATE 3A)

In the field of educational technology, there are a variety of resources that can be used to help inform current practices. Many of these come from published articles in journals or chapters in books on the subject. Students will read one article or chapter on a topic of their choice related to educational technology and summarize, in their own words, the key ideas in the article.
