Dunleith Media Center Guidelines

Hours:

· Student checkout from 8:30 – 2:45 **Mondays and Fridays from 9:00 – 2:45

· Teacher iPad checkout 7:30 – 7:45 **Teachers must sign up for iPads in Outlook the day prior to checkout

Teacher iPad checkout procedures:

· Media personnel will check out iPads to teachers – 6 iPads per teacher

· Teachers must return iPads to the media center no later than 2:30 to maintain checkout privileges

· Responsible 4th and 5th grade students may bring iPads to the media center (no K – 3 students)

Checkout procedures:

· Students will need a pass to enter the media center (or a note from the teacher)

· Students will need to bring their blue reading folder so we can help them choose “just right” books

· Students may only checkout twice per day

· K & 1st – check out 1 book at a time 2nd – 5th – check out 2 books

· Book baskets can be provided for classes with active readers and read-in days.

· During whole class checkouts teachers need to supervise students

The Reading Oasis:

· Teachers may send their “best behaved readers” with a note indicating start and return time to read for up to 20 minutes during the day. No more than 4 per class.

· The Reading Oasis will be available by pass only (teacher note) starting August 31st

Laminating:

· Teachers may leave items on the counter behind the laminator

· Teachers must note their name and class code

· Items will be laminated every Tuesday

Behavior:

· Students will be excused from the media center if they do not show appropriate behavior

Playaways:

· Playaways will be reserved for 4th and 5th grade students. Teachers will be given a permission form to deliver to students who would be a “good fit” for playaway reading. Students must bring 1 “AAA” battery and their own headphones to check out. See permission form for details
