RASAC P&K Support Services Team Leader

Responsible to / RASAC P&K Development Manager
Responsible for / The coordination, facilitation and promotion of RASAC P&K Support Services.
Purpose of role / To provide direct support to survivors of sexual violence (face to face and via email and helpline). The post holder will coordinate the day to day activity within the Support Services Team, including the management of the helpline rota. To raise awareness about the prevalence and impact of abuse on individuals and our communities, building resilience and increasing access to support service. This position will involve supporting the Development Manager with funding reports and applications.
Based / Perth, covering Perth & Kinross (evening and weekend work required)
Hours / 35 hours per week
Salary / AP5.1 £27303.00 including a 7.5% enhanced OOH payment (Pro-rata)
Length of Post / Currently fixed term contract until 31st March 2016. Continuation funding for this post will actively be pursued
Pension / RASAC P&K offers a 10% pension contribution to workers who participate in a pension scheme. Pension contributions commence for participating workers on successful completion of the probationary period. To be eligible for employer contributions, employees must contribute a minimum personal contribution of 5%.
Annual leave / 30 days plus 11 public holidays (pro-rata)
Supervision / Internal support & supervision is provided every 4 weeks. External supervision is provided on a monthly basis when involved in direct support work.

Principal Duties

Supervisory responsibilities – Support Workers

  • To act as mentor, provide guidance and oversee support workers caseloads and allocated projects
  • To coordinate the development and completion of quarterly action plans
  • To provide monthly supervision to Support Workers
  • To ensure adherence to the project’s budget for resources / activities / training / expenses
  • To highlight training opportunities for RASAC Support Workers
  • To provide quarterly progress reports of Support Services to Manager
  • To promote effective partnerships working with key stakeholders, including participation at relevant multi-agency / strategic partnerships
  • To coordinate the day to day tasks carried out by RASAC P&K Support Services
  • To contribute to funding applications and progress reports as required
  • To promote and embed effective monitoring and evaluation systems within the service
  • To manage the smooth delivery of our helpline service, organising volunteer / staff rotas on a monthly basis
  • To contribute to the development of policy/good practice

Support Work

  • To provide face to face support and advocacy services for women/young survivors
  • To provide email and telephone support for women/young survivors
  • To work on a community outreach basis as necessary, including visits to other settings
  • To record all information pertaining to RASAC P&K’s support services accurately and appropriately in line with RASAC P&K’s support service information recording and Data Protection systems.

Equality and Diversity

  • Facilitate development of English and translated information and support materials for women and young women affected by any form of sexual violence
  • Research and access funding for practical aids to increase access to women and young women with disabilities/complex needs

  • To ensure that the development and delivery of support and advocacy recognises the additional barriers and inequalities faced by survivors of sexual violence from marginalized groups and communities and strives to promote at all times inclusive and anti-discriminatory practice across all aspects of the service.

Service Development / Multi-Agency Working

  • To market and publicise the service
  • To engage in and promote multi-agency and partnership working with a comprehensive range of both statutory services and voluntary agencies
  • Work with local partnerships and Rape Crisis Scotland to facilitate delivery of local and national campaigns challenging VAW and gender inequality.
  • Facilitate delivery of awareness / training events in city and rural areas which will increase understanding of the impact of sexual violence against women and the links with gender inequality

Quality Assurance

  • To implement and adhere to Rape Crisis Scotland’s National Service Standards
  • Regular liaison with the Development Manager to plan, review and develop service provision to more effectively meet the needs of women/young women

Monitoring and evaluation

  • To record and analyse data in line with OASIS Case Management System
  • To promote service user consultation and consult with survivors in line with organisational procedures
  • To implement relevant monitoring and evaluation systems which capture both quantitative and qualitative information from all aspects of the support service.
  • To analyse monitoring and evaluation information to inform future service delivery.

Team working and communication

  • To work as part of a team

Person Specification

Criteria / Essential / Desirable
Knowledge
& Understanding / Commitment to a feminist analysis of sexual violence. / Knowledge and Understanding of Scottish legislation, policy and government strategy related to violence against women.
Knowledge of the impact of rape and sexual abuse on women, young people and children.
Knowledge of the societal impact that gender based violence has on communities.
Experience / Experience of providing emotional and practical support and advocacy services to women and young people affected by trauma / Experience of supporting individuals who self-harm and/or express suicidal intention.
Experience of working with individuals affected by gender based violence.
Experience of working with volunteers.
Experience of delivering training, presentations and workshops to a range of audiences.
Experience of developing learning / training materials
Experience of monitoring and evaluation processes
Experience of managing / supervising a team
Experience of funding applications / reporting
Liaison with appropriate statutory and voluntary agencies
Skills and Abilities / Ability to respond to survivors within a gendered analysis of violence against women
Skilled in use of IT for self-administration e.g., Microsoft, excel, email and internet.
Excellent organisational skills.
Ability to lead and motivate a team
Ability to communicate with a variety of agencies on all levels.
Ability to produce action plans and regular reports.
Capable of using own initiative and meeting tight deadlines.
Ability to use creative methods for monitoring and evaluation.
Knowledge of the third sector and its role in addressing Violence Against Women
Qualifications / Professional Qualification in Health, Social Work or similar discipline.
