John Brady, a son of Samuel Brady, was born in Berks County PA in 1783. He married Christena Michael. Christena died in 1806. John married Susanna Ware in 1808.

John Brady, a son of John and Christena (Michael) Brady, was born in Pendleton County VA in 1806 and died in Braxton County WV in 1874. He married Elizabeth Barker in Pendleton County VA April 17, 1828. Elizabeth was born in VA
August 25, 1807 and died November 30, 1874.
It appears John Brady was among the first settlers to come to the vicinity of Grasslick, near Fairview in Braxton County, VA (WV). He built a log cabin on Grasslick, where he lived for a year or two. John then moved away, only to return in a few years. Upon his return, he purchased a farm on Grasslick, where he remained the rest of his life.

James Brady, a son of John and Elizabeth (Barker) Brady, was born in
VA December 29, 1828 and died July 9, 1864. He married Nancy Long. Nancy, a daughter of Jacob N. and Mary Long, was born in VA in 1826. The family is found in the 1850 and 1860 Braxton County VA census. Nancy is found in the household of Jacob N. Long in the 1870 Braxton census as a housekeeper.
James served the Confederacy in the Civil War in the 17th VA Cavalry and was killed in the Battle of Monocacy VA July 9, 1864.

8.CECELIA BRADY 6.JOHN BRADY 2.JOHN BRADY 1.SAMUEL BRADY
Cecelia Brady, a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Barker) Brady, was
born January 11, 1829 and died at Lee's Summit, Jackson County, Missouri
July 30, 1870. She married William Fisher Rogers in Braxton County September 27, 1847. William, a son of John and Malinda (Wilson) Rogers was born in Braxton County VA (WV), January 27, 1827 and died near Walla Wall, WA Nov 11 1889.
On April 18, 1866, the family left Sutton, WV and traveled by flatboat to Charleston, WV. From Charleston, they traveled by steamboat to a place called the Jack Stone farm, near Kansas City, Missouri. They lived there until sometime after Cecelia's death in 1870.
William and his younger children, John, Malinda, Phoebe and Hannah, left Missouri in a covered wagon and arrived at their new home near Medicine Lodge, Kansas October 23, 1873.
William married Sarah A. Bannister in Sun City, Kansas June 26, 1879. Apparently this couple split up, for another marriage application was filed July 22, 1885 for a marriage to Hester A. Hooker. After it the county recorder had written, "This was a failure". William moved to Walla Walla, Washington between 1885 and 1888 and lived with his son, Levi, until his death.

Solomon Brady, a son of John and Elizabeth (Barker) Brady, was born in VA August 23, 1835. He married Malinda "Millie" Young. Malinda was born in VA about 1832, the daughter of John and Sarah Young.
Solomon and Malinda (Young) Brady lived on Grasslick, near Fairview in Braxton County, WV. They lived in a log cabin, on the farm his father had purchased. Solomon's son, Benjamin, eventually inherited this farm. Solomon and Malinda are buried in unmarked graves in the Brady Cemetery on the old family farm.
Solomon was a member of a group of federal soldiers known as the
Home Guards of '61, (1861) in Braxton County, VA.

Christena Brady, a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Barker) Brady, was born in VA March 30, 1833 and died in Braxton County, WV April 16, 1884. She married George Friderich "Fred" Gerwig in Braxton County VA in 1852.
Fred, a son of Georg Friederich and Juliana Elizabeth (Konig) Gerwig, was born in Germany November 30, 1827 and died in Braxton County, WV September 8, 1911. He emigrated to Catonsville, MD in 1833 with his family and came to the German Settlement in Braxton County, VA (WV) with them in 1840.
Sometime between 1855 and 1860, the family moved to Kansas to homestead. They encountered hot dry weather and returned to the German settlement in Braxton County.
Christena died in 1884 and "Fred" married Clementina Rommetsch in 1885. Clementina, a daughter of Jacob Rommetsch, was born in Baltimore, MD March 10, 1850 and died February 7, 1937 in Braxton County.

Delilah had married George Westfall June 26, 1879. George, a son of Alfred C. and Ann (Riffle) Westfall, was born in Braxton County VA January 24, 1854 and died there about 1885.
