Study Abroad Scholarships for Summer 2016

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies (SPS) is pleased to announce that it will award up to 15 scholarships ($1,000) for study abroad in Summer 2016.

·  UF in Barcelona (1 scholarship)

·  UF in Dominican Republic (3 scholarships)

·  UF in Peru (2 scholarships)

·  UF in Rio de Janeiro (1 scholarship)

·  UF in Seville (4 scholarships)

·  UF in Valencia (4 scholarships)

These scholarships are available to all UF students but special consideration will be given to intended or declared Spanish and Portuguese majors, where applicable.

The application deadline is Wednesday February 24th, 2014 for all our summer programs. Please submit a hard copy of your application by this date to the Director of the program on which you intend to study. (Note: all mailboxes are located in 170 Dauer Hall.) Recipients will be notified by e-mail on or before Monday March 14th 2016.

Applications must include:

1.  A completed application form (see next page)

2.  A statement of 300-500 words that addresses the following three questions:

a)  How will your experience abroad fit into your professional/career plans? How will it affect your involvement with local, national, and international communities that speak the language you’re studying (Spanish, Portuguese, Catalan)?

b)  For those participating in a UF program, how will you contribute to the success of this program? Please be specific.

c)  Tell us why you are deserving of support from the Spanish and Portuguese Studies department.
