Lab #1 Alternative

Directions: Go to the following website: http://bit.ly/XYIkZo. Use the tabs on the left hand side of the screen to help you navigate through this lab on Ecology. Your final product should be a lab report with the following components:

1.  Title

2.  Purpose – What is this lab about? What question are you trying to answer through this lab? Why are you doing this lab? How will you use the information and skills in this lab for future labs

3.  Procedure/Materials: Since this is a virtual lab (using computer as a simulation), describe how you did the lab in a way that someone can replicate this lab if they did not have the program. Be specific and detail.

4.  Results- Describe your results using information that you have recorded below in the charts. You can put the tables below on your report. However, DO NOT leave the tables in your result without an explanation of what the table means. Don’t forget to label your table and refer to your table in your description of your result.

5.  Conclusion- Putting all the information that you recorded together, what can you say about the final result of your experiment? What did you learn? Could you improve the lab? If so, how will you improve the lab? Why is this improvement better than what you have done?

Finally, submit your lab report to turnitin.com by following the instruction on Gertz’s website.
