DARREN MAULE

Darren Maule is equally at home on stage, TV or big screen. His career started as a comedian at the infamous Hysterics at the Randburg Waterfront in 1996. Since then has featured at most comedy venues countrywide.
Darren Maule’s gift is his versatility; he can go from the physicality of Lee Evans or the Umbilical Brothers as demonstrated in his performance in “The House Boys”. To the cutting wit shown in “the Joe Parker Comedy Express 2”.
Darren has starred in the “Improv Express” (based on Who’s Line is it Anyway?) as a MC and player countrywide.
He is in hot demand for corporate functions or charity fundraisers, for his poignant thought-provoking outlook on issues facing South Africa and the world today.
Darren has performedinternationally. He performed in New York in 2000 & 2002 and has also performed in Prague for Nashua rewards conference as the “Real time” life inter-active animated character “Cassie” which also enjoyed two sessions on SABC 3 as an animated talk show host.

After a number of adverts Darren Maule went on to host a “Live” TV game show “Play TV” which aired for a year, 5 days a week.

Darren then hosted two seasons of SABC3’s “ Out the Box” in 2006/2007, which has just finished its rerun everyday during the week at 12h00.

He has also been the comic relief character “Grant” in the multi-award winning Curious Pictures drama series “Hard Copy” Seasons 1, 2 and 3. Hard Copy (season 3) is being rebroadcasted on Saturday nights at prime time 19h30.

Darren enjoyed the great success playing Mr. Font in his Sitcom ‘Font’ on Thursdays 21h30 on SABC3 which reached over 1 000 000 viewers and has been nominated for awards.

Every Friday night at 21h00 on SABC 2 you can catch Darren on the game show called “Where were you?” and Sunday afternoon on SABC 2 at 12h30 on “Draw the Line”.

Darren has also filming “White Wedding” in the beginning of 2008, which will be hitting the big screen early 2009 after visiting the Toronto, Sundance and Cannes Film Festivals.

Darren has just completed filming as The Merchant in Ben Jonsons “Volpone” and Juror No 7 in ”12 Angry Men”.

Physical, Intellectual, Culturally significant or sidesplitting silly, Darren Maule has all the tools for a comic actor for this millennium.

Darren can be seen in the very funny Pick n Pay advert and 4 VW ads that capitalize on his unique comedy style parodying the current load shedding dilemma in SA not forgetting his lead in the OKI ads. He has also done Several international Ads for Brands that like to capitalize on his Physicality.

Darren performs Live countrywide and is Resident MC at the monthly comedy gig at Partyhouse at the Dome Northgate, which has enjoyed full houses since its inception in October 2007.
