Prayer Requests

Bill Buchanan's sister, Loretta Buchanan, has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Madeline writes, “Bill's sister will have surgery on Monday, Sept. 13th.” Please keep her in your prayers.

Andy Long asked us to pray for their neighbors- Greg and Donna McNulty. Greg seems to be hours away from ending his battle with cancer. Please pray for comfort and peace for this family.

Roger Torbert writes, “A friend of Alex's from the youth group at the church at Heritage Place was found dead yesterday morning. Wesley Eubanks was a senior at the Jefferson County International Baccalaureate School at Shades Valley. He was a brilliant young man with great things ahead of him. Amy and I worked with the young people at Heritage Place for many years -- Wesley always stood out as a thoughtful, well-grounded, polite Christian who was a role-model not only for the other kids who were in the youth group, but any of us who was blessed to know him. Sadly, it appears that he took his own life on Saturday night. (Update: Alex visited his sister for a while last night and learned that Wesley's death was being ruled an accidental hanging and not suicide. Oftentimes it is difficult to make sense of things that happen in this world, we can only trust in God and know that He is there for us.) Please be in constant prayer for his mom and sister as they struggle in this difficult time. Also pray for the young people who knew him (including Alex) as they navigate through the grief process and work through this unfortunate loss.”

Khris Robinson writes, “Can you add my aunt to the CrossBridge list? Her name is Mary Lee Woodard, 83 years old, and she is suffering with cancer. She is in the hospital in Heber Springs, Arkansas and they have called in a Hospice team. Also, pray for my Uncle Bob. He has struggled with health issues as well, but now his heart is very sad.”

Graham Jamison has begun classes at Pepperdine! His roommate is named Dan. Dan’s father is struggling with what appears to be a reoccurrence of a brain tumor. Please pray for healing for Mr. Landers and lift up Graham’s roommate Dan as this must be so difficult on him as he begins classes.

Lee Kauper asked us to pray for Ronna Fulton who is the mother of one of Evan’s friends. She is struggling with reoccurring cancer and is receiving treatment and needs our prayers.

Donna sends the following update on Paul Allen. She writes, “I wanted to update you on Paul for the church bulletin and for this venue. Paul is on a new chemo treatment and is doing very well. It appears that the tumor may not be as active as it once was. One year after his initial diagnosis, he is gaining weight and generally feels well. He will continue under treatment locally and we will travel back to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in October for another evaluation with the goal being that they try once again to remove the tumor. He continues to defy the odds! Thanks to everyone for their continued support, love and prayers.”

Mike Jones continues to recover from his surgery to repair his detached retina. Please continue to pray for him.

Matthew Dodson is recovering from surgery on his broken arm. Pray for a swift recovery.

The Sabens’ and Wortmann’s ask that you please pray for a little girl, Christina Barrett, an 8 year old with serious cancer. Her grandfather was the principle at the Christian school that my children attended in Columbus and her aunt was one of Lisa’s bridesmaids. Our hearts ache for all children that are suffering with cancer but this one is especially close to our hearts and as serious as she is, only God through prayer can heal her. May God richly bless each one that takes the time and makes the effort to pray for her.

Paul Lewis writes, “Please add my aunt, Brenda Presley, to our prayer list. She had a 26cm tumor on her left ovary removed. The doctors are telling her that there is a 70% chance that it is benign. She is going to see a specialist who is the best in this area, and our prayers are that he can remove it and that it is benign. She is in good spirits, and has said that she's not worried because the worst that can happen is that she goes home to the Lord.”

Morgan Bramblett is healing from a sprained ankle which has been placed in a cast. Please pray for a swift recovery.

Cheryl Hollingsworth writes, “Can you send this address out to our church members in your regular e-mail on Monday? I don't personally know the woman who is sick, but a note or a card can go a long way for someone who is ill. “Hello to you all, I just wanted to send an update as to how mom is doing. She is on her 4th week in the hospital, and she has been moved to her new hospital 10 miles north of Valparaiso. Portage has a unit within the hospital that is "transitional care"( Regency). The unit is supposed to be a lower cost, more intense care and will transition her to Physical Therapy much sooner. She was found Monday to have had pneumonia back in the lower right lobe of her lung, and was in need of 2 pints of blood. She still has the UTI, C-Diff, and pneumonia. But with the prayers being lifted up for her, she has come a very long way. July 31 in the early am she coded, was put on a vent. For a week, now as time goes by we are seeing some signs of memory loss from the coding, which they said would be normal, and could reverse itself in time. Mom is depressed. She had been in the Valparaiso hospital where dad and his daughter could visit 2xs a day, and had a friend living across the street. Now she's lost that aspect of her days. The staff at Valpo were very spirit lifting and mom was laughing on a regular basis, she has been informed where she is now, they are about the business and not about lifting spirits. I am traveling to Valpo every Friday afternoon and returning home Sunday evenings. I would like to ask a favor if possible. I would like to start a card shower for mom, hoping this would help raise her spirits again. If you know of any others for whom I have not sent this to could you forward it on, or at least her address. My address book on the computer is very scarce. I know God has touched mom in a very HUGE way, she has come a very long way, and I know He will continue to touch her even more in the days and weeks to come. Her time away from home has been 4 weeks today and another probable 6 weeks more. I am planning to be with her each weekend until she returns home. Least I can do for the mom that means more to me than breath itself. God Bless each and every one of you, Jennifer Marie.”

Mandee McDonald writes, “My Dad had an appointment with his surgeons. They have decided NOT to do any surgery on his leg. He is too susceptible to infection and they fear that he could develop an infection that would kill him. This means that he will spend the rest of his life in a wheel chair with one amputated leg and another leg with a spacer instead of a knee. He is very upset and disappointed. The Dr. says he will be able to drive, but we haven't figured out how yet. I know that he will find a way to enjoy life and do things he still wants to do, but Daddy is having a hard time realizing that right now. Please pray for Daddy to feel peace and acceptance, for Mom to support him and feel that same peace, and for my family to do what we can to help him. They are also having financial problems because of hospital bills and his inability to work for the past 2 years. Please pray for a solution for their living arrangements and financial well-being.”
