VOICE II

Catalog Description:

23B ā€“ VOICE II 1 unit

(May be repeated 3 times)

Development of skills in vocal performance, notation, literature. Emphasis on further development of technique and performance. Prerequisite: Music 23A (completed with a grade of ā€œCā€ or higher) or equivalent. 4 hours laboratory.

Prerequisite Skills:

Before entering the course, students should be able to:

1. define musical symbols and terminology;

2. read vocal literature;

3. identify different formal structures of vocal literature;

4. demonstrate the classic approach to vocal performance;

5. sing vocal literature in the correct tessitura;

6. demonstrate self‑expression through solo singing.

Expected Outcomes for Students:

Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:

1. sing with facility the major and minor scales;

2. sight read vocal literature;

3. classify vocal literature according to musical eras;

4. demonstrate proper diction;

5. perform vocal literature as a soloist or as a member of an ensemble.
