Contemporary Art Center Press Release:

Maryruth Ginn: Evidence of Collection

February 27 - April 10 Gallery 3R

About the Artist: Maryruth Ginn has lived in Peoria for over 35 years. She has exhibited in Peoria galleries and educational venues during that time. She has had representation in St. Louis, Taos, New Mexico, Quad City Arts, and the McLean County Art Museum. She is a charter member of the Riverfront Summer Market with her fiber pieces.

Artist Statement: Evidence of Collection pulls together, in two media, the concept of "collecting". It concerns the human quality of making decisions about what to include in one's surroundings mental and physical. Not only are "things" or "objects" included, but the collections of stories, qualities of personalities, memorable humorous incidents, are included. A sense of humor is always evident. Without tongue in cheek, there is no survival! Collecting is recognized as an addition. So, as other collectors, the artist rejects that label.

The opening progressive reception on Friday, March 6, 8-10pm will also honor the artists exhibiting in the 32nd Bradley International Print and Drawing Exhibition in the Preston Jackson Gallery and Doug Goessman & Erin Robert in the Side View Gallery. Food & drink will be provided. Admission is free but a donation is requested.
