Agenda
· WASFAA President’s Goals for Communication
o Discussed goals of WASFAA to engage members through communication by proactively communicating events and training.
o We will work with other committees (conference, MLI, Summer Institute, training) to proactively communicate events for member engagment.
· Discuss Communication Roles:
- Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIN
- Newsletter editors
o With the small group this year, each member will contribute as a newsletter editor
- WaterCooler Blog
· Ideas & Suggestions for Improving Communications
o Discussed possibilities of using a FB group vs a page to engage members
§ Facebook has limits on when members “see” or engage in posts
§ Nicholas will look into pros/cons
· Newsletter Improvement thought/ideas
o Discussed using digital newsletter format or creating the newsletter in house.
§ MailChip is one example. Would need to research more and cost. Shauna will share an example from her school.
o Discussed the concern of designing in house when committee members move on.
o Group agreed that overall our newsletter needs a facelift and David will discuss possible suggestions with the EC at the meeting later in the month for their thoughts/ideas and bring back to the committee.
o Group is open to using a different avenue or design instead of using the Beach City Graphic Designer, who is expensive and uses the same look/feel/clip art for each newsletter.
Action Items
· Nicholas to research pros/cons of using a Facebook group vs a page (Done)
· Shauna to share MailChimp newsletter her school uses as possible idea for newsletter (Done)
· David to grant Nicholas & Shauna access to post to social media (Done)
· David to discuss ideas and budget with WASFAA EC coming up on June 23-24
