Commit to the Works of the Lord

Commitment: is defined by Webster as the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc.

This type of quality must be found in people who truly love and aspire to be like Christ. Let us think for a moment on what builds commitment, and why is it so important when we are seeking and growing in Christ. First, commitment is validated by how consistent we are with standing for God when things are in opposition to our integrity as a representative of Christ. In these last days it will require a fully committed life for God’s people to stand and confront adversity. Secondly, commitment is surrendering ourselves to the leadership of Christ and trusting in his divine abilities. All of us one time or another have tried to make certain changes on our own only to fail because we lacked the commitment within ourselves to finish what we started. God has promised sustainability to all who truly surrender to his divine leadership. In Psalm 37:5 the word of God reads “Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” We can truly thank God for his favor and ultimate sacrifice of our Lord and Savior who empowers us to accomplish all things. (Isaiah 40:29-31: He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint).

Learn of Jesus Christ. Believe in Him. Let Him be that thought on your mind every second of every day. Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.” It is not the course of our life that is the focus, but the deeds that we

do. When we commit to the works of God, we can have peace of mind in knowing that God is pleased with our efforts.
