Colonization: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

In the envelope on the table in front of you are several words, phrases, and pictures. Each is labeled with a letter of the alphabet.

Your group has a one page “T-Chart” that has two sides: positive aspects of colonization and negative aspects of colonization. The names of everyone in your group should be added to the T-Chart.

As a group, decide if each of the documents in your envelope is positive or negative. This can be from the colonist’s perspective, the native’s perspective, or your own 21st Century perspective.

On the T-Chart, write down the letter of each document under “positive” or “negative.”

After completing the T-Chart, answer the questions at the bottom of the page as a group.
