Collierville High School Drumline Required Items
Must Have:
These two items are absolutely ESSENTIAL for anybody who wants to become great at a marching percussion instrument. Without them, students will find it nearly impossible to improve outside of rehearsal time, which they will need to do in order to better themselves as musicians, and to remain a part of the ensemble.
· Marching Snare Sticks
A pair of marching sticks costs about $10 dollars and can be used by snare drummers, tenor drummers, and bass drummers to practice. While bass drummers and occasionally tenor drummers will use different mallets for their instrument, snare sticks are still the best way to practice the core concepts and techniques that they will learn about throughout the year.
Recommended Sticks-
o Innovative Percussion FS-MM Mac McIntosh sticks (These are what we are planning to use at Collierville for Snare and Tenors.)
o If FS-MMs are out of stock, buy any Innovate Percussion FS series sticks (FS-JC, FS-2, FS-PR)
o Do NOT buy AS series sticks.
· Practice Pad
A good practice pad can cost anywhere from $20 up, and is also necessary for anyone interested in playing Snare, Tenors, or Bass. Tenor drummers may also be interested in purchasing tenor pads, but it is more important to have a single pad. This is because it is impossible to play on multiple drums well without knowing how to play on a single drum.

o Vater Double Sided Practice Pad
o OffWorld Percussion Invader
o Vic Firth Heavy Hitter Large Quadropad (Again, tenor pads are not necessary, but if you wish to purchase one, this is a good option.)
Must Bring to Rehearsal:
These Items are required at every rehearsal and are needed to ensure that practice can run in a smooth, effective manner.
· Sticks and Pad
· Black Binder with Sheet Protectors (And music once it is passed out.)
· Pencil
· Highlighter (Mainly for Bass drums)
Recommended Items:
· White Electrical Tape (Used to tape sticks)
· High Tension Drum Key (Mostly for section leaders, and tenor drummers)
