Projects:

Automated Framing Table - (Senior Design, Fall 2001-Spring 2002)

Sponsored by Harpers, a division of Kimball office furniture, we designed, tested, analyzed, and constructed an automated machine to aid in the assembly of office divider frames: Experienced a real life design problem from start to finish; used CAD and presentation software extensively; interacted with product vendors; worked as a team of three. (group project)

Radar Velocity Sensor- (Senior Lab, Fall 2001)

A non-contact velocity sensor was needed for an autonomous vehicle. We designed and implemented an experiment to determine how precisely a radar velocity sensor measured true ground speed: preformed statistical analysis of data; presented experiment and findings in both a technical report and presentation. (group project)

Radial Engine Kinematics Model- (Kinematics, Spring 2001)

We created a vector math and a physical model of a five-cylinder radial aircraft engine: used software to solve geometry, velocities, accelerations, and forces; presented physical model and findings to the class. (group project)

Projects (cont):

Automated Window- (Personal Project, Summer 2001)

I am automating a window and box fan to open and turn on when the outside air temperature is less than the inside air temperature: integrating a BasicX stamp as controller; developing motor drive, temperature measurement, and IR interfacing systems; writing necessary software. (individual project)

Z183 Microprocessor- (Personal Project, Fall 2000)

I controlled steam flow to the appropriate cylinders of a steam engine with a microprocessor: developed needed electrical and electronic systems, wrote necessary software, competed in an engineering contest. (individual project)
