EQ: How do you plan effective presentations? (unit 2, day 1)
Obj.: Students will be introduced to oral communication by learning how to communicate in a clear, courteous, concise, and appropriate manner.
GP: Students will be introduced to oral communication through a Lego Activity. Students will be paired to complete the activity.
IP: Students will use teacher guided notes to fill in parts of the Preparing to give an informative presentation PowerPoint presentation.

BELLRINGER: Week 4/Day 17
EQ: What does it mean to “think on your feet”? (unit 2, day 2)
Obj.: Students will learn how to analyze the situation, purpose, and audience to guide the planning and presentation of oral communication
GP: Students will review oral presentations.
IP: Students will complete the activity, 5 second rule. Each student has five seconds to name 3 things in an assigned category. This helps students speak effectively when put on the spot at a meeting or even an interview. They must do it without saying um also.

EQ: What is an impromptu speech? (unit 2, day 3)
Obj.: Students will learn how to analyze the situation, purpose, and audience to guide the planning and presentation of oral communication
GP: Class discussion over impromptu speeches
IP: Students will draw a topic from the teacher and present a speech about that topic for 20-30 seconds.
DG: Daily grade on the impromptu speech

Obj.: Students will learn how to analyze the situation, purpose, and audience to guide the planning and presentation of oral communication
GP: Students will learn about proper guidelines for effective presentations.
IP: Students will use teacher guided notes to fill in parts of the Guidelines for Effective PowerPoint Presentations presentation.

SEM: Hearing impaired students will be seated near the front of the class. For students with exceptional needs, teacher will read the information on the slides and problems in the text. Peer tutoring may be used to assist students having difficulty keeping up with the classroom assignment. Students with language barriers will be seated near the front of the class and will be seated next to a bilingual student to assist. For students with significant disabilities, modifications will be made according to the student’s IEP.
