· Sit in assigned seats.

· Not leave books or personal belongings in the room. They may be taken.

· This classroom is yours for 90 minutes each day. I expect it to be kept clean. This obviously includes no writing on desks, walls, bulletin boards, etc.

· Stay away from my desk and computer, unless you are given permission. DO NOT CROSS THE RED LINE!

REMEMBER (These have become recent distractions)

· NO GUM, FOOD OR DRINK ARE PERMITTED IN THIS ROOM!

CONDUCT

· Each student has a MORAL RESPONSIBILITY to respect themselves & others and will be held accountable for their actions. (7 Essential Virtues)

· No swearing or inappropriate language or conversations. (I decide what is inappropriate)

ASSIGNMENTS & HOMEWORK

· All homework assignments are due on the day assigned. I will not tolerate late excuses. If you see a problem in advance or you experience problems while at home, then you are to email me at the appropriate address. ()

· If you fail to hand in a homework assignment you can receive ½ credit, provided it is handed in the next day.

· For Essays, you lose a letter grade for each day it is late.

· When you are absent and a test is given, the expectation is that the test will be completed on the day you return.

· Remember, we have a vocabulary quiz EVERY Friday, and we read each day, so there is ALWAYS review work that can & should be done.

· There will be opportunities for make up work. HOWEVER, this is a privilege, not a right.

· Cheating or copying work from another student will earn you AND the “cheatee” a ZERO. This is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Plagiarism is a violation of the Honor Code here at PHS and a conference with the Principal, Guidance, and your parents will be held.

· The procedure for completing assignments when you are absent is: First, try and contact a friend from class. –OR- Ask me when you return what was missed. Then, hand it in the next day. Please note that I will not chase you around looking for the work. That is your responsibility!

ABSENCES & LATENESSES

¨ Absences must be kept to a minimum. This is the primary reason people fail this class.

¨ Work can be made up in the Learning Center, Monday through Thursday, 3pm-5pm. This is the only time work can be made up.

¨ Students must have a pass when entering late. When you are late 2 times you will receive an administrative detention. NO EXCEPTIONS! TIMELINESS IS A LIFE-LONG SKILL.

ESCHOOL BOOK

· It is the responsibility of the student to check grades.

· They are your grades, not mine.

· Get the appropriate username & password. (This will be a graded assignment)

DETENTIONS

¨ Detentions are assigned to students who do not comply with these procedures and/or fail to honor his/her duty to respect themselves & others. Detentions will be assigned same day or the following day. The length of each detention is dependent on the offense.

¨ Whenever a student is disruptive or creating a situation that is not conducive to learning, they will be removed immediately to TPC AND lose all credit for the day. DO NOT BE GUILTY OF STEALING AN EDUCATION FROM ANOTHER PERSON.

The procedures and policies set forth in this handbook are designed to create a culture, climate or atmosphere that is encouraging, respectful, enjoyable and conducive to learning. We will need the help of all students and parents to make this possible. We make one promise: You will benefit from this class and enjoy it if these procedures are followed. Thanks, Good luck, and have a great year.

(I certify that I have read and understand these procedures)
