CLARK COUNTY FOOD BANK:

FEEDING FAMILIES – CHANGING LIVES

Project 1

CREATE A POSTER TO ATTRACT YOUTH GROUPS TO OUR GARDEN AT THE 78TH STREET HERITAGE FARM;

In the past two years we have planted, weeded, and harvested over 20 miles of carrots producing 115,000 pounds of carrots –almost three semi-truck loads! A lot more is possible with more volunteer help. Design a poster directed at enticing youth groups to spend a few hours, once weeding and once harvesting—to help us provide fresh, nutritious food to families and children in need.

Project 2

PUT A FACE ON HUNGER

We have conducted surveys where those in need have anonymously described what has caused them to be in need. With these as a base, students interested in theater can create and present several three part scenarios which would:

(1) Identify the causing circumstances,

(2) Describe what hunger means to a youth in need,

(3) Portray dreams and how nutritious food can help achieve them

These could be performed at a variety of venues: service clubs, social groups, neighborhoods, churches, etc.
