KEYS Program News

The KEYS Program is a 501c3 nonprofit children's charity that delivers music, hope and SMILES to kids battling cancer, and those in need of healing, through music outreach, education and advocacy. Throughout each school year the teens in the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill (VVS) Entertainment Industry Class create and record original songs for KEYS teens battling cancer, and serious illnesses. They donate use of their songs to the KEYS Program, so KEYS may include the songs in the KEYS Care Packages that KEYS gives away to kids in children's hospitals, camps, and special needs across the US. This special project is called Hearts of Hope! Each spring, the VVS students showcase their songs at a special concert they host called the Hearts of Hope Benefit Concert. Along with their gifts of song, a portion of the proceeds from the concert benefits the KEYS Program. The next Hearts of Hope Benefit Concert will take place May 16 at 7pm at the VVS High School.

Sherrill-Kenwood Free Library

Stop by, pick up a copy of our newsletter, visit our website, www.sherrillkenwoodlibrary.org or call

363-5980 for more information!

Thank you for your support! Do you know how your library is funded? The Sherrill-Kenwood Free Library receives funding from the City of Sherrill, the Town of Vernon, and Oneida County. In spite of their generosity and continued support, their contributions only account for approximately 54% of the library’s budget. The rest is up to us, through our savings, endowments and grants, and up to you, our patrons, through your generous donations and support of our fundraising efforts. We offer our sincere thanks to everyone who supported the library in 2013. Your generosity allowed us to purchase 73 books for the library and offset the cost of 13 squares of our new carpet! Your support is critical to ensuring our ability to continue to serve the community. Again this year we will be asking for donations towards the purchase of books for the library. These $25 donations will be recognized by a bookplate identifying the book as one “Donated by the Patrons of the Sherrill-Kenwood Free Library”. As always, your donations to the library are tax deductible. If you would like to make a general donation, or would like more information about library funding, contact Jennifer Milligan at 363-5980.
