Welcome to the Seventh grade chorus!!!

As we begin the new school year, I am looking forward to sharing our love of choral music together . Your 7th grade year here at the Middle school promises to be a great one !!!! We are all here because we love to sing. Chorus will promote musical growth, technique, music proficiency, and of course, the enjoyment of singing!!!!!

CLASSROOM RULES AND REGULATIONS:

1.Be prompt. Enter the room quietly, get your assigned folder and take your assigned seat in your voice section.

2.Students are assigned folders that will contain music.

3. NO EATING IN CLASS!! NO FOOD, NO CANDY, NO GUM!!!

4. The first few minutes of classroom time will be devoted to warm-up exercises, the remaining time is for rehearsal. It is up to the students to exercise self- discipline and focus on making our ensemble the best it can possibly be. Be the “best you can be ,not a hindrance.” Excessive talking, or misbehavior, will not tolerated.

Your commitment to chorus ensures your attendance at concerts, as they are MANDATORY. This will instill teamwork and make our ensemble as strong as can be. “We are all a necessary piece to our musical puzzle.”

Grades are assessed in the following way:
40% Rehearsal Participation

Due to the emphasis on performance, individual singing skills are evaluated daily. Stress is placed on the individual’s ability to function as a member of the section, show self discipline during rehearsal and devote him/herself to the task at hand. Class participation earns a student up to five points a day by participating with their best efforts during warm-ups, music rehearsal, sight singing and all classroom activities.

50 % Concert Attendance

Concerts are mandatory here at FMS. Excused absences consist ONLY of illness, or family emergency. Otherwise, a project must be assigned to make up the missing portion of your marking period grade. Since choir is a performing group, all members are expected to participate in ALL concerts, adjudications and rehearsals, either during or after school.

10% Written and Aural Tests evaluations ( per marking period)

PLEASE SIGN THE PORTION BELOW/DETACH AND RETURN TO YOUR CHORUS TEACHER BY SEPTEMBER 23rd 2016.
