CHINA REQUIREMENTS

PLEASE NOTE:

Almost all the countries in the world, including the Republic of South Africa recognize the fact that Taiwan is an unalienable part of China. But Taipei Liaison Office in South Africa are issuing visa labels carrying the words of so-called “Republic of China”, in an attempt to create “two Chinas”, which is totally unacceptable to the people and Government of China. The Embassy wishes to inform the public that as from April 2000, it will no longer accept South African passports that bear the visa label with the words of the so-called above-mentioned visa labels must present the Embassy a new passport in order to apply for Chinese visa.

· Applicant’s passport should be valid for over 6 months

· Blank visa pages – Applicants are recommended to apply for their visa two week (if in person) or one month (if by mail or other delivery service) before departure (to avoid expiration of the visa).

· 1 complete visa application form (Visa forms can be reproduced if more are needed).

· 1 recent passport size photo (colour)

· A health certificate is needed for those who will stay in China for more than a year.

· Regulations & fees are subject to change without prior notice.

· Confirmation of hotel accommodation from China

· Return airline ticket

· Bank statement for first time travel to China

Other requirements

Visitors/Business visa “F” type

A formal invitation/authorization letter of fax for visa processing is required from competent Chinese authorities or institutions, ie. State commissions, ministries, provincial governments or government authorized Chinese companies, corporations or institutions etc, and a cover letter from the applicants’ company.

Student visa “X” type and “F” type

An application form (JW202 or JW 201) for international students issued by the Ministry of Education of China or a notification of admission from the receiving university or college with the seal if the Education Ministry is required. “X” visa is issued to those who stay more than six months. Health Certificate required & HIV blood test if staying for more than a year.

Working “Z” visa

Besides a formal invitation/authorization letter from competent Chinese authorities, a work permit is also required. Health Certificate required & HIV blood test if staying for more than a year.

Tourist visa “L” type

Applicants are requested to provide hotel booking, return air tickets and itinerary in China. Business people can also apply for a tourist visa if they don’t have formal invitation letter from private companies.

No multiple entries visa for “L” visa.

Transit visa “G” type

Applicants are requested to provide a valid visa from the country of destination and an airline ticket.

Group Visa

· One touring party has to be formed with more than 5 persons by travel agency and all the passengers of this touring party have to enter and depart at the same time.

· 3 copies of the name list of passengers with serial numbers

· A copy of each passenger’s passport

· The names of accompanying children should be entered in the name list

· Confirmation from the Government authorized Chinese tourist company
