1. Objective:

The students will prepare and present a brief lesson to the class on an assigned cellular organelle.

2. Task:

The task is to prepare a brief classroom lesson on an assigned cellular organelle. The student should prepare the lesson in the same manner as a teacher

3. Requirements:

The student must prepare a brief effective classroom lesson on an assigned cellular organelle. The lesson should include any and all pertinent information regarding the description and function of the organelle.

The student may use any appropriate techniques for teaching the lesson. If in doubt, ask Mr. Oertner.

The lesson should be a minimum of 5 minutes in length. Also, lessons longer than 15 minutes in length must be pre-approved by Mr. Oertner prior to the presentation.

Originality and creativity within the lesson are strongly encouraged. The student is given a great deal of freedom in regard to the style of presentation.

4. Grading

A. Content – The student did a nice job of including any and all pertinent information regarding the description and function of the organelle (See assessment form for point values)

B. Originality and creativity – The lesson was original and creative and held the class’ attention (See assessment form for point values)

C. Effectiveness – The lesson effectively presented the information about the organelle and the students gained knowledge about the organelle. (See assessment form for point values)
