Guest Speaker Mike Long
It’s our pleasure to have Mike Long as our guest speaker. Mike is a Durham native, UNC graduate, and former teacher in Durham Public Schools.
As a result of a grant received in 1985 from the NC Department of Health and Human Services, Mike was able to develop and promote a strategy to teach abstinence education that is now known as “directive education”. In his books and video series “Everyone is NOT Doing It”, Mike explains to teens and parents just how effective abstinence is. As a national consultant he has been able to train over 30,000 educators to effectively present abstinence.
Mike has been recognized as one of the Outstanding Young Men of America. He also has been the recipient of the Eagle Award for his care and concern for today’s youth.
