124 Long Street South
Bigtown, IL 11555

Dear Mr. Greggor,

Please accept my enthusiastic application for the cashier position at the Frozen Marble Ice Cream Shop. I would love the opportunity to join the team at your esteemed establishment. I believe my excellent customer service and leadership skills make me an ideal part of your organization.

Your advertisement states that you are looking for an employee who is comfortable working in customer service. As I have served as a cashier at a grocery store for three years, I have ample experience providing friendly service to customers even during the most stressful business hours. As a member of my university’s entertainment committee, I have gained additional experience in customer service, making arrangements and providing accommodations for a variety of performers. I am constantly ready to offer a smile and a helping hand to any customer.

You also specify that employees should be prepared to be leaders, capable of running the cash register alone for extended periods of time. I have substantial leadership experience from my role as my high school’s literary magazine as literary editor, and in my role as my track team’s captain. Both positions required leading meetings and making difficult decisions under stress; for example, if a team member was injured before a race, the track coach and I would have to decide who to put in her place. As a literary editor, I had to make last-minute decisions about our magazine layout. I am therefore confident that I can handle stressful situations and make quick decisions as a cashier in your store.

I am certain that my customer service leadership skills are exactly the qualities you are looking for at the Pink Creamery Ice Cream Shop. You will find my resume enclosed, and will call within the next week to see if we can arrange a time to speak together further. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Thank you,

Olivia Johnson
