CAREER PORTFOLIO INSTRUCTIONS
KEEP IN NOTEBOOK FOR REFERENCE
· The complete portfolio will consist of:
1. Cover sheet to be completed in Computer Applications or on your
home computer if necessary. This must include your name, my name, your class period and a graphic pertaining to technology.
2. 13 Career sheets - 1 per module with 2 careers on each. The careers cannot be used more than once and the information must be complete.
3. 3 Want Ads from the newspaper or the internet.
4. One typewritten Letter of Application for one of the jobs from your
want ad selections. This letter must be grammatically correct and in
correct form. (An example of a business letter is attached to, or on the back of this instruction page.)
· The completed portfolio will be turned in at the end of the semester upon
completion of Rotation 13. Extra credit points will be assigned if it is turned in before the end of the rotation. Points will be deducted if it is turned in after the last day of the rotation. Extra points will also be assigned if a resume is attached.
· Portfolio grade counts as your nine weeks test grade.
· Career Sheets will be completed throughout the semester as you rotate
through the modules.
· In AEROSPACE, ENGINEERING, LASER, MANUFACTURING,
POWER AND ENERGY, AND PRODUCTION AND PROCESSING Career Sheets will be completed while working through Activity 9.
· In BIOMED, COMPUTER APPLICATIONS AND ENVIRONMENT Career Sheets will be completed during the activity labeled "Careers" listed in
your manual.
· In WEATHER and CADD Career sheets will be completed under the
activity labeled "Careers" on the computer.
· In AUDIO VISUAL and ROBOTICS Career Sheets will be completed
utilizing the internet computers and the Career Futures software.
Below you will find an example of a letter of application. This is to be used with a Want Ad from a newspaper or internet job search site such as GulfCoastWanted.com. This letter must be typed following the correct form for business letters to get credit.

I would like to apply for the position of Fragrance Odor Evaluator, which was advertised in the May 10, 2001 edition of the New Daily World.
I have always had an extra sensitive nose when it comes to odors. In addition, I have held part-time fragrance evaluator positions at the following companies: A. Roma Fragrance Corporation, O. Door Perfumes, and Pungent Perfumes.
