Title and Abstract Submission for papers and posters is available after Deccember 15th on the Academy web site – http://www.alabamaacademyofscience.org. All titles must be SUBMITTED ON-LINE BY JANUARY 31, 2008. Students may enter their paper and/or poster in the Student Paper and Poster Competition (see Academy web site for requirements), and a winner ($50 cash award) will be announced for each section.

Please utilize the Academy Web Site to submit titles for both oral papers and posters:

Follow the directions given on the site for listing the title, presenter’s name, coauthors, and official title of the institution, company, or organization. This will assure accurate listing of your presentation in the on-line and hard copies of the program. The on-line version will be the official version of the program for the annual meeting and should be available on the Academy website three weeks prior to the meeting.

STUDENT GRANTS AND AWARDS

For Travel Grants, Research Grants, and the Paper and Poster Competition Awards you must apply on-line, http://alabamaacademyofscience.org, and meet all of the posted eligibility requirements. Hard-copy submissions are no longer accepted.

TRAVEL GRANTS

Limited travel grants will be available to student members who otherwise would not be able to attend the Annual Meeting of the Academy. Priority will be given to applications submitted by students who will present a paper and/or poster at the Annual Meeting. Submittal deadline is January 31, 2008

RESEARCH GRANTS

Research grants, in amounts usually not exceeding $250, are available for student members’ projects that meet eligibility requirements. Submittal deadline is January 31, 2008

PAPER AND POSTER COMPETITION AWARDS

Student members may enter their paper and/or poster in the Paper and Poster Competition. This is accomplished by checking the appropriate box when the paper/poster title is submitted on-line. Entries must conform to eligibility requirements and the student must be a member of the Academy. The author(s) of the winning paper or poster in each section will receive appropriate recognition, including a $50 cash award. Winners will be announced and checks presented at the AAS the Annual Banquet.
