CE361 Creative ideas to attract more riders to public transit
1. Form a team consisting of two to four team members.
2. Decide on the topic the team wants to cover
3. Conduct a literature search about the topic the team chose. The search can be done through the Internet or you can check out reports from the Transit Cooperative Research Program available in the CE Dept’s conference room. You need to check out from the secretary if you want to take out of the room.
4. Come up with ideas that may help UTA increase ridership in Utah County.
5. Each member must write up his/her own report and include it in the term project report.
6. Design a poster (must be in color) that presents the core theme of your team’s idea for improving ridership. A copy of this poster must be included in your term project report (reduced to a letter size paper). The poster in your report must be in color if a color poster was made.
7. Each group must send Dr. Saito a copy of the file containing the poster.
Some of the issues about UTA operations here in Utah County are:
· Service coverage – route related issues
· Attracting more high school students to UTA
· Attracting more elderly people who are capable to walk
· Attracting more students to non-commute activities
· Marketing ideas that help instill behavioral changes among those who have mobility choices (have a car but ride a bus)
· Route names
· Bus stop information needs
· Frequency of service at certain routes
· Providing mobility independence to the handicapped
· Or, choose your own concerned topic
