Quail Roost Scholarship

$500-One Semester

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Applicant must be a New Mexico Resident

2. Must be enrolled in an Associate or Certificate program at UNM-Taos.

3. Applicants who have earned an Associate or Bachelor’s degree are NOT eligible.

4. Must be enrolled at least Half-Time (6 Hours) and have a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher.

5. Please include a copy of your unofficial transcripts.

6. Must have a completed Financial Aid file.

7. Must be making satisfactory academic progress.

8. A 500 word essay addressing any of the following:

o Academics:

§ What is your academic history (High School or programs attended, GPA, grade completed, my certificates, GED, etc.)?

§ What are your educational goals? Include degree program and expected date of graduation.

§ Briefly describe your personal and/or professional goals as related to your educational pursuits. What are your plans after attaining your degree?

o Financial Need:

§ Please indicate number of household members.

§ Please indicate your total annual household income range.

§ What are your estimated costs of attending UNM-Taos per semester? ( tuition, books, fees, housing and any other related expenses) Explain how you plan on meeting these costs?

§ What resources are available to you to assist you in attaining your degree (include financial aid, scholarships received/applied for, work or other income, etc.)?

o Additional Considerations:

§ Please describe any unique circumstances you think should be taken into consideration.

§ List any extracurricular activities, volunteer experience, community service, clubs, memberships, hobbies, interests, etc.

§ You may additionally provide any documents or information to your particular situation including but not limited to: a brief work history, letters of recommendation, certifications, etc.

*We encourage the following students to apply: GED recipients, candidates from alternative/reform schools, juvenile diversion programs, justice centers, state correction facilities or drug court graduates; also adult students seeking to pursue an education later in life or those returning for a “second chance” at a post-secondary education.
