The Bucks County Intermediate Unit Board of Directors met at its regularly scheduled meeting, after notice was duly given to the newspapers and to the public as required by law, September 18, 2007 at 7:01 p.m. in the Board Room, Intermediate Unit Office, 705 N. Shady Retreat Road, Doylestown, Pennsylvania. The meeting began with the pledge of allegiance by Tina Donlevy’s autistic support class at Pennridge High School followed by roll call.

Upon a motion by Mr. Peter Belmonte, seconded by Mr. Heath and passed by unanimous vote, the Board approved items #1 through 25 (Item #18 & 20 contained one (1) Nay by Dr. William Spitz) with #14 being removed from the agenda due to vendor withdrawal of the contract:

The Board approved the revision of the Act 89 Nonpublic schools budget in the amount of $5,096,920.00 and the Catapult Learning contract in the amount of $3,431,400.00 for a period of July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008.

The Board approved to continue the contract with ServiceMaster of Allentown for the period of September 2007 through August 2008 then month-to-month thereafter in the amount of $10,428.00
RENEWAL OF LEASES
The Board approved the renewal of lease agreement with Emilie United Methodist Church for one (1) preschool classroom for the period of July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008 and year-to-year there after in the amount of $4,536 annually.
The Board approved the renewal of lease agreement with LifePath Inc. at Ridge Crest Center for the period of September 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008 and year-to-year there after in the amount of $9,688.00 annually.
The Board approved the renewal of lease agreement with MCC Warwick House for the period of September 1, 2007 through August 31, 2010 and year-to-year there after in the amount of $48,697.00 annually.
APPROVAL OF CONTRACT
The Board approved the contract with School Works! in the amount of $8,000 for a period of September 1, 2007 through August 31, 2008.
The Board approved the contract with Lehigh University for a graduate research assistant in the amount of $32,513 for a period of August 27, 2007 through August 22, 2008.
The Board approved the contract with James Russell in the amount of $12,000 for a period of July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2008.
APPROVAL OF POLICIES AND PROCEDURES FOR IDEA
The Board approved the use of IDEA Policies and Procedures as outlined by the State under sections 300.121-300.156 effective July 1, 2007.
APPROVAL OF CONTRACT
The Board approved the agreement with SunGard Pentamation to interface the AESOP Substitute Service/Absence Reporting System with the Human Resources application for a period of September 19, 2007 through March 31, 2008 in the amount of $6,000 flat fee and $1,800 software support and maintenance fee.
APPROVED VARIOUS PERSONNEL ITEMS
The Board approved various personnel items (a to d).

The Board shared various items of news from each of their districts.
LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
Mr. Jack Brady provided all Board members with a legislative update and handout.
OLD BUSINESS None
NEW BUSINESS Dr. Galasso presented the Board with an option to copyright the “Art on the Move” curriculum the cost would be $2,000.
PAIU.net – Dr. Galasso suggested the IU look into become part of the PAIU.net
Dr. Galasso suggested the Board enter into a contract with Dellicker to determine what monies could be used for research grants in looking into benefits coverage, etc. as opposed to the suggested allocations from the state.
