Winter Warrior Challenge – Sara reported that well over 200 people have signed up, with about 150 reporting on a regular basis. The leaderboard is up and some photos have started coming in. She hopes that now the snow is here, more photos will be posted. The group watched the DITV story; there will also be stories in the Gazette and the Press Citizen. KCRG is also doing a story. Great job, Sara!

Jingle Cross – Ben and Anne reported that there were about 1,600 people in attendance at the Jingle Cross. There were 50-60 kids participating in events on Saturday. Ben reported that El Bandito’s and Jimmy Jack’s even ran out of food. Thanks to volunteers, about 2,000 pounds of materials were diverted from landfilling, which included glass bottles and corrugated cardboard.

Smartphone app – Mark reported that Alex is making headway on the app. He needs people with Iphones to start beta testing, so if you know of anyone who bikes, has an Iphone and who might be interested, please get in touch with Mark.

Spring 2014 student projects – Liz asked the group for ideas for student projects. Each spring, students who are assigned class projects ask her for ideas. Last year, two students worked on the bike quiz and coupon. Several great ideas were suggested and she will update the list in time for the spring semester.

Campus Bike Coordinators Network – Liz just wanted to inform the group that the UI OS is now on this listserv. Liz also wrote the new person in charge of the Bicycle Friendly Universities at the League of American Bicyclists; she extended an invitation to visit the campus but also asked if she would be available for a discussion regarding how the UI could improve its BFU rating.

Other discussion – Liz asked the group if there is interest in taking the Winter Warrior Challenge community-wide next year – YES! Wayne reported that he and his staff are still looking at sites on the Main Campus to expand the bike rental service.
