DANCE CLASS ETIQUETTE
A DANCER SHOWS RESPECT FOR HIMSELF/HERSELF BY:

· Being prompt for class

· Being dressed properly for class.

o Solid black & white. STREET CLOTHES ARE NOT DANCE CLOTHES

o Not wearing jewelry; small stud earrings & religious necklaces are
acceptable.

o Tying hair back in a ponytail, braid, or bun with bangs out of your face. For
shorter hair a headband or clip is acceptable.

o Correct dance shoes and NEVER WEARING STREET SHOES ON THE DANCE FLOOR.

A DANCER SHOWS RESPECT FOR OTHERS BY:

· Keeping hands and feet to yourself during class, unless used for a particular dance
style.

· Focusing on those who are dancing instead of daydreaming or talking. Visualizing
yourself so that when it is your turn, you will do it right.

· Using polite language and treating others with courtesy

A DANCER SHOWS RESPECT FOR HER/HIS TEACHER AND THE ART FORM SHE/HE IS
LEARNING BY:

· Being properly dressed, ready for class, and on time.

· Listening when the teacher speaks.

· Standing in a proper dance stance when listening.

· Being prepared for their turn.

· Asking before leaving the dance floor for any reason and reentering without
disrupting the rest of the class.

· Finishing every exercise to the best of their ability.

· Maintaining focus on the content and goals of the lesson.

A DANCER SHOWS RESPECT FOR THE STUDIO BY:

· Leaving gum, food, drinks, and cell phones outside the studio.

· Never hanging or leaning on the ballet barres.

· Never leaning on or touching the mirrors

· Never running, shouting or doing gymnastics before class begins.

· Putting trash in its proper place.

· Putting away books and magazines when finished with them.

· Always keeping your belongings zipped inside your dance bag.
