Position: Environmental Health Scientist Divisions: Environmental Health - Logan

Grade/Step: 21 – 1 Bachelors of Science & LEHS License Wage: 21 – 1 $22.26/hr.

19 – 1 Bachelors of Science 19 – 1 $19.93/hr.

Description: Full Time Benefited Closing Date: Nov. 11, 2016

Summary of Duties:

Under the supervision of the E.H. Director, the E.H. Scientist would plan, implement and evaluate programs in the Bear River Health District which include but not limited to:

· Food Service: Conducts inspections of food service establishments, conducts food handler classes, performs plan reviews for new food service establishments, and serves on the CLEHA food rule committee.

· Temporary Food: Permit and inspect temporary food events Cache County and other events as required.

· Meet the mission statement and the 10 Essential Public Health Services.

Education and Experience:

Grade 19: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a B.S. degree in Public Health or similar science related field, having a least 45 credit hours of science studies, be able to take and pass the Licensed Environmental Health Scientist exam, and become licensed in the state of Utah. In addition, professional certification in the various program areas.

Knowledge of:

Knowledge of Public Health. Must have good written, verbal, and public communication skills. Must be able to develop curriculum, lesson plans, and effective program plans for education and enforcement activities. Must have computer program skills. Must be able to accept direction from supervisors.

Ability to:

· Maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work activities

· Must have good written, verbal and public communication skills

· Maintain confidentiality of sensitive records

· Must be able to work well under pressure, manage multiple tasks and work well in a team situation, meet deadlines, and be able to work independently on a day-to-day basis

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

· Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Utah Driver License at the time of employment.

· Must successfully pass a Background check and Drug Screening.

· Must be able to provide own transportation

· Must be able to lift 50 pounds and be able to perform strenuous activities requiring flexibility, stamina, and overall general good health

· Must have a flexible schedule, available for scheduled work in the evening and /or weekends, as job requires
