BOYNE CITY MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL 2011 Season

Dear Parents and Players,

I would like to congratulate you on your decision to join the Rambler Football program. Boyne City Football has enjoyed a rich history of excellence, with a tradition built on the dedication and spirit of participants like you. We anticipate that you may have several questions regarding this fall’s football season and the following list will hopefully answer some of the questions you have.

1.) Participation on this team is open to Boyne City Middle School student entering the 8th grade and any students entering 7th grade who weighs more than 130 lbs.

2.) Boyne City Middle School and BCYFB organizations are sponsoring this program and a fee of $75 is required to play. This fee will go towards insurance, administrative cost, paying officials, game management, transportation, equipment, etc.

3.) We will be participating as a member of the MHSAA in the Lake Michigan Conference (with Charlevoix, East Jordan, Elk Rapids, Harbor Springs and Kalkaska) and will be adhering to league and association guidelines regarding participation and play.

4.) The season is eight weeks long. Three weeks of practice will lead up to the first game, followed by five games. All games will be on Tuesdays, starting at 5:00 PM.

5.) All practices will take place at 5:00 PM at the high school practice field. Parents are responsible for transporting their player to and from practice. Practices will generally last two hours.

6.) Practice will start in late August – with the schedule posted on the Boyne City Youth Football Web Page.

7.) Game schedules will be distributed at the preseason meeting in early August.

8.) There are no weight restrictions except for offensive backs. Backs can not weigh more than 175 lbs.

9.) SAFETY WILL BE OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY. We will be using Schutt and Riddell equipment, which will include: helmets, shoulder pads, practice pants and pads, practice jersey, game jersey, and mouthpieces. Pants will be worn for both practice and games.

10.) The only necessary equipment a player may want to purchase will be a pair of football cleats.

11.) We require a physical for all players. If you missed the date for physicals through the school, you will need to make sure that a physical is completed and on file with the Athletic office before the season starts in the fall.

12.) Attendance at all practices is extremely important. If a player must miss practice it is their responsibility to contact one of the coaches before the practice.

13.) Each player will be issued numbered equipment. Parents will sign a form verifying your responsibility for the equipment. Any lost or damaged equipment will be charged to the player.

14.) We will be having a preseason “Right to Know” meeting to collect physicals, sign medical release forms, review team guidelines, fit helmets and go over the final schedule for practices and games. This meeting will take place in early August (exact time and date will be sent to you) shortly after the youth football camp.

ALL INFORMATION WILL BE POSTED ON OUR WEB PAGE – Which you can find a link to at boyne.k12.mi.us

We are very excited about offering this program to your child. Please contact us if you have any questions. Thank you.
