Learning Resources at Bognor

At the Bognor campus, learning resources and services are provided in the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) and the Reprographics Centre.

LRC

Books and Journals

Some 40,000 books and about 100 print subscriptions to journals. With online access to over 12,000 journals, and 250,000 e-books.

Classroom Resources

There is a large collection of resources for use in schools including books, DVDs, document packs, posters, big books, and CD-Rom software on the ground floor.

Subject Librarians

Subject Librarians deal with library matters as they relate to particular subject areas. In particular they are able to assist you with discovering information resources in your subject area (see list below).

Borrowing books

There are a range of loan categories:

Short - for 2 days/weekend (Yellow band)

Intermediate - for 1 week (Green Band)

Standard - for 4 weeks

Reference - LRC use only (Red Band)

Support/Help

Assistance and guidance in use of the resources and the LRC is available from the Enquiry Desk on the first floor, General Enquiries are dealt with by the main SIZ desk on the ground floor. Items can be borrowed using the self-issue kiosks on each floor. For help with more detailed library questions you will be directed to your appropriate Subject Librarian.

Electronic resources

·  Library Catalogue (available through Portia)

·  Online databases on the ‘Library’ pages of Portia, including full-text access to 12,000 e-journals and over 240,000 e-books.

Inter-Library Loans

Books and journal articles can be obtained from the British Library on your behalf. Inter-Library-Loan (ILL) forms are available at the SIZ desk. There is a £2 admin charge for each ILL.

IT Facilities

The LRC has 40 open-access PCs. Two open- access/ teaching rooms are also available with a further 40 PCs. There is wi-fi throughout the LRC. Support is provided by the SIZ Desk.

Other Services

Equipment Loans

Video cameras and sound recording equipment are available from the SIZ Desk.

Copying and printing

Four photocopier/ scanner/ printers are available in the LRC. Copying and printing costs are displayed by each machine and charging is via your University account.

Reprographics
The Reprographics Centre offers a binding and laminating service and a workshop area for student use.
